International regulatory requirements related to product certification
Information and information products are subject to different functions and regulations, including safety, electromagnetic compatibility, telecommunications regulations, and wireless spectrum. Almost all products must comply with the safety and electromagnetic compatibility regulations. Telecom regulations are only required when the product is connected to the communication interface. The wireless spectrum is only required when the product is applied to the wireless transmission.
The design trend of information and communication products has been moving towards light, thin, short and small. Generally speaking, the smaller the design, the more difficult it is to meet the standard requirements. If the product uses a cathode ray tube (CRT), it must meet the safety requirements of X-ray. If laser is applied, the safety of the laser should also be considered.
Information and information products are mostly designed and marketed worldwide with the same products, and most of them use DC power or a full range of 100-240Vac. If the product obtains CB-report in safety certification, it can be recognized by most countries.
1. Safety
Almost all countries adopt the standard based on IEC 60950. The following are the common security standards for information and information products:
Regional Decree / Standard Standard Name Applicable Products
International Standards IEC 60950 Safety of information technology equipment All information and communication products
China GB 4943 Information Technology Equipment Security All information and communication products
Europe EN 60950 Safety of information technology equipment All information and communication products
United States UL 60950 Safety of information technology equipment All information and communication products
Canada CSA C22.2 No. 950 Safety of information technology equipment All information and communication products
2. Electromagnetic compatibility (EMC)
In terms of information and communication products, some countries will require products to comply with EMI+EMS, and some require only EMI. The former such as CE Marking in Europe and South Korea, the latter such as the United States, Japan, Australia and Taiwan.
The EMC standard for information and communication products is the standard for global reconciliation. EMI is based on CISPR 22 and EMS is based on European EN55024 as a product standard and then cites the individual standards of the IEC 61000-4-xx series. Some wireless communication products have different ETSI product standards in Europe, and their testing spirit and projects are similar to EN55024.
The EMC directives and standards commonly used in information and communication products are as follows:
Regional Decree / Standard Standard Name Applicable Products
International Standard CISPR 22 ITE-Radio disturbance characteristics – Limits and methods of measurement Information and Communication Products
European Standard EN 55022 ITE-Radio disturbance characteristics – Limits and methods of measurement Information and Communication Products
European Standard EN55024 ITE-Radio disturbance characteristics – Limits and methods of measurement Information and Communication Products
US Directive FCC Part 15, sub-part B Radio frequency, devices unintentional radiators All products
3. Telecommunications regulations
Information and communication products that comply with the requirements of telecommunications regulations when they receive the public network (PSTN), please refer to the testing and certification of wireless communication products.
4. Radio Spectrum (Radio Spectrum)
Information and communication products that use wireless RF transmission must comply with the regulatory requirements for wireless spectrum. For details, please refer to the testing and certification of wireless communication products.
