EU ErP Directive
Introduction to the ErP Directive (2009/125/EC)
In order to improve the EuP Directive 2005/32/EC and further expand its scope, the European Union officially issued the Ecology Requirements Directive 2009/125/EC on energy-related products on October 31, 2009, which specifies energy-related products ( Energy-related Products) A framework for ecological design requirements. Since November 20, 2009, the ErP Directive 2009/125/EC has replaced the original EuP Directive (2005/32/EC, 2008/28/EC).
The IM based on the EuP instruction will be transferred to the IM of this instruction at the same time.
The main change in the ErP instruction compared to the EuP instruction is to extend the energy-related products in the original EuP instruction to Energy-related Products, expanding the range of EuP instructions. Energy-related products are those that affect the energy consumption when they are placed on the EU market and/or put into use; or parts whose environmental performance can be independently assessed and are to be fitted to the products covered by this Directive. In addition to the energy-consuming products covered by the original EuP Directive, it also includes other energy-saving products such as windows, insulating materials or water products (such as shower heads, faucets, etc.). Like the EuP, the ErP Directive does not apply to people and goods.
The ErP instruction is not an instruction for the product requirements, but a framework instruction. In accordance with the relevant provisions of this Directive, the EU further develops directives on the ecological design requirements for certain types of energy-consuming products, called “Implementing Measures” (IM). The implementation rules that have been promulgated and implemented are as follows:

Basic steps for ErP authentication
Conformity assessment
According to the requirements of the ErP Directive, the manufacturer may be in “Internal Design Control” (ErP Directive Annex IV) or “Environmental Management System”
(ErP Directive Annex V) One of the two assessment modes is selected for evaluation.
2. Organize and form technical documentation (TDF)
Manufacturer must form technical documentation
Technical documentation should include information on design, manufacturing, operation, and final disposal of the product.
The details will be clarified through the implementation measures of each product.
3. Issue a Declaration of Conformity (DoC)
Basic Information
Compliance with directives and standards
4. Label CE mark
Coordinated standard tests (EMC, LVD, etc.)
Label CE mark
